Lasik Surgery - Laser in-situ keratomileusis.

For lasik surgery performed at the ESF at our West Perth clinic a thin partial thickness corneal flap is created using an instrument called a Microkeratome. This leaves the flap hinged so that it can be repositioned. With the flap turned back, the excimer laser is used to remove corneal tissue to produce the required change in corneal curvature. The flap is then repositioned and adheres to the under lying cornea within minutes without requiring any stitches.
